On December 3rd Satu Holmberg and Renni Honkanen from Helsinki City libraries shared their experience from the first year of IMMS™ being live at the Helsinki City libraries. They provided practical tips about weeding prior to implementation and on how to train staff in the use of the mobile app. However, most importantly, they shared great ideas about how to get the patron buy-in for the new and labour saving paperless holds. This is so efficient that the library now spend only 5 minutes per holds tote instead of the usual 30 minutes. With approximately 100.000 totes processed monthly this takes a considerable weight off the hands of staff – leaving more time for customer service in the beautiful new main library of Oodi and across the other 48 library locations in the city.
