Digital Product Passport Innovation

Lyngsoe Systems as Technology Solution Provider

The textile industry is on the brink of transformation. The European Union’s Digital Product Passport (DPP) initiative, launching in 2027, will require every company to provide detailed, transparent information about their textile products throughout their lifecycle. We are proud to be technology partners in a ground breaking project dedicated specifically to textiles, in partnership with Aalborg University and other innovators, and funded by Innovationsfonden Denmark.

As technology supplier in the PROLONG project, our work directly aligns with one of our ESG goals:

“Customer Solutions for Emission Reduction: Our focus remains on empowering businesses to cut their CO₂ emissions through tailored solutions that drive efficiency and sustainability.”

What is the Digital Product Passport?

The DPP is an EU initiative designed to enhance transparency and sustainability by providing accessible, comprehensive data about textile products at every stage of their lifecycle. This new rule will empower consumers, businesses, and regulators to make informed, responsible choices. Discover also our guide to DPP here >>

About the Trace and Prolong Projects

Trace is a collaborative initiative aimed at driving Denmark’s transition to a circular economy. The project brings together leading researchers, industry experts, and technology providers to develop innovative solutions that improve resource efficiency, reduce waste, and support climate goals.

PROLONG is a targeted initiative within Trace, focused on one of the  industry’s most pressing challenges: overproduction and overconsumption of clothing. Designing for Longevity (DFL) is a strategy designed to counteract these issues and contribute to CO₂ reduction. However, there is a lack of data to measure the actual effect of employing a DFL strategy, which leaves companies to base their longevity strategies on assumptions and hypotheses.

This is where we come in: Our role is to help in creating the technological foundation for collecting and qualifying the data that companies need to measure and validate the real impact of their Design for Longevity strategies. By enabling robust data collection throughout the product lifecycle, we help move the industry from assumption-driven to evidence-based sustainability.

The PROLONG project, in collaboration with Aalborg University, VIA University College, DTU, Design School Kolding, and a network of leading Danish fashion brands and organizations—including Jan Machenhauer, NN.07, Tekstilrevolutionen, Week of Wonder, Les Deux, Sort Slips Hvidt Slips, Lakor, Et Al Originals, Selected, MICollect, Lyngsoe Systems, and Combine—will identify key data collection points, develop data-collection concepts, and deliver actionable recommendations for implementing and scaling effective longevity strategies in textiles.

Why This Matters

The DPP and Prolong projects are more than regulatory requirements—they represent leadership in sustainability, transparency, and circular economy practices for textiles. By providing the tools and expertise to collect and leverage lifecycle data, we will develop solutions to help our customers reduce their carbon footprint and meet the evolving demands of both regulators and consumers.
