Our Library History

Lyngsoe Library Systems is the result of decades of growth, acquisitions, and shared expertise. Every company that has become part of our story has brought something distinct to the table, and together we've built one of the library market's most experienced teams. That experience keeps growing, and we're glad to share it with libraries and librarians around the world.

1952: The Beginning

Lyngsoe Systems starts out as a division of Søren T. Lyngsø A/S, founded in Copenhagen. The company builds automation solutions across energy, environment, marine, and industry, laying the groundwork that would later shape its approach to library technology.

1990: Codeco Launches Library Solutions

Codeco enters the library market with dedicated automation solutions for libraries, marking the first chapter of what will become a central part of Lyngsoe's portfolio.

1994: A Company of Its Own

On 1 September 1994, a management buy-out establishes Lyngsoe Industri as an independent company, and the library business finds its own footing. From here, Lyngsoe's focus on library automation takes shape.

1996: P.V. SUPA is Established

Finnish company P.V. SUPA is established, kicking off what will become decades of work in library automation. With operations across Finland, the UK (through subsidiary 2CQR), and the US (P.V. Supa Inc.), P.V. SUPA grows into one of the library market's most recognized names.

1999: Library Department Starts in Crisplant/FKI

A dedicated library division is established within Crisplant, later known as FKI Logistex. Built on a long-standing partnership with Lyngsoe Systems, it's a step that would prove significant when the two organizations eventually come together.

2003: Lyngsø Industri Becomes Lyngsoe Systems

The company rebrands from Lyngsø Industri to Lyngsoe Systems, a name that better reflects its international reach and technology focus.

2004: 2CQR is Founded

2CQR is founded in the UK, specializing in library automation and RFID solutions for libraries.

2009: Lyngsoe Acquires Codeco and FKI Logistex Library Solutions

A big year for Lyngsoe's library business. Lyngsoe Systems first acquires Codeco, bringing its library automation expertise in-house. Then in September, Lyngsoe acquires the global FKI Logistex Library Solutions business, including its engineering, manufacturing, software, service, and intellectual property. The strengths of both organizations are integrated with Lyngsoe's RFID expertise, considerably expanding the company's presence in the library market.

2017: P.V. SUPA Acquires 2CQR

P.V. SUPA acquires 2CQR, consolidating its UK presence and adding to its portfolio of library automation solutions.

2021: Lyngsoe Systems Acquires P.V. SUPA Group

In January 2021, Lyngsoe Systems acquires the Finnish-based P.V. SUPA Group, including 2CQR in the UK and P.V. Supa Inc. in the US. Bringing together two of the library market's leading players, with 50 years of combined experience, the acquisition strengthens support for libraries worldwide and adds a range of complementary solutions to the portfolio.

2024: Lyngsoe Systems Library Solutions is Formed

On 1 September 2024, Lyngsoe Systems A/S establishes Lyngsoe Systems Library Solutions (LSLS) as a dedicated subsidiary, bringing all library activities under one entity. Existing subsidiaries in Finland, England, Germany, and the United States become part of LSLS, making it the dedicated partner for libraries worldwide.

2026: Lyngsoe Acquires mk Solutions' Business in North America

Lyngsoe Systems Inc. acquires mk Solutions' business in North America, effective January 1, 2026. The acquisition reflects Lyngsoe's increased focus on the North American market, broadening its expertise and ensuring continuity of service for existing customers.
