Our Library History
For over 25 years, Lyngsoe Systems Library Solutions has been at the forefront of intelligent automation for libraries — growing through innovation, strategic acquisitions, and a deep commitment to the librarian.
1952 — The Beginning
Lyngsoe Systems originates as a division of Søren T. Lyngsø AS, founded in Copenhagen. The company develops automation solutions across energy, environment, marine, and industry — establishing the engineering DNA that would later power world-class library solutions.
1990 — Codeco Launches Library Solutions
Codeco enters the library market, introducing dedicated library automation solutions that lay the groundwork for what will become a cornerstone of Lyngsoe's portfolio.
1994 — A Company of Its Own On
1 September 1994, a management buy-out separates Lyngsoe Industri as an independent company — and with it, the Library business finds its own footing. This marks the true starting point of Lyngsoe's focused journey into library automation.
1996 — P.V. SUPA Is Established
Finnish company P.V. SUPA is established, beginning decades of innovation in library automation. Operating across Finland, the UK (through subsidiary 2CQR), and the US (P.V. Supa Inc.), P.V. SUPA grows into one of the library market's most respected players.
1999 — Library Department Starts in Crisplant/FKI
A dedicated library division is established within Crisplant, later known as FKI Logistex. Building on a long-standing partnership with Lyngsoe Systems, this marks a significant step in the development of what would become a world-class library solutions business.
2003 — Lyngsø Industri Becomes Lyngsoe Systems
The company rebrands from Lyngsø Industri to Lyngsoe Systems, reflecting its growing international ambitions and increasingly technology-driven identity.
2004 — 2CQR Is Founded
2CQR is founded in the UK as part of the P.V. SUPA Group, specialising in library automation and RFID solutions for libraries across the UK and beyond.
2009 — Lyngsoe Acquires Codeco and FKI Logistex Library Solutions
A landmark year for Lyngsoe's library business. Lyngsoe Systems first acquires Codeco, bringing its library automation expertise in-house. Later that same year, in September, Lyngsoe acquires the global FKI Logistex Library Solutions business — including its engineering, manufacturing, software, service and intellectual property. The best of both organisations is integrated with Lyngsoe's deep expertise in RFID, significantly expanding the company's library footprint.
2017 — P.V. SUPA Acquires 2CQR
P.V. SUPA strengthens its global library position by acquiring 2CQR, consolidating its UK presence and broadening its portfolio of library automation solutions.
2021 — Lyngsoe Systems Acquires P.V. SUPA Group
In January 2021, Lyngsoe Systems acquires the Finnish-based P.V. SUPA Group — including 2CQR in the UK and P.V. Supa Inc. in the US — creating the global leader in intelligent library automation. Uniting two of the library market's leading players, with 50 years of combined experience, delivers stronger support and new complementary solutions to libraries across the world.
2024 — Lyngsoe Systems Library Solutions Is Formed
On 1 September 2024, Lyngsoe Systems A/S officially establishes Lyngsoe Systems Library Solutions (LSLS) as a dedicated subsidiary. This strategic move brings together all of Lyngsoe's activities related to public and academic libraries under one focused entity — with its own identity, leadership, and purpose. Existing subsidiaries in Finland, England, Germany, and the United States become part of the new subsidiary. While operating as a separate legal entity, LSLS remains part of the Lyngsoe Systems Group, building on decades of reputation for quality, reliability, and innovation as the go-to partner for libraries worldwide.
2026 — Lyngsoe Acquires mk Solutions' Business in North America
As part of an increased focus on the North American market, Lyngsoe Systems Inc. acquires mk Solutions' business in North America, effective January 1, 2026. Lyngsoe obtains the right to sell mk's products and becomes the sole supplier of support and service for existing customers in the region. mk Solutions' European and international operations remain unchanged. The acquisition reflects a shared vision for where the library industry is heading — broadening Lyngsoe's expertise and strengthening its position in a rapidly changing market, while ensuring continuity and high-quality service for all customers.
At Lyngsoe Library Systems, we are proud of the journey that has brought us here. Every company that has become part of our story has added unique expertise, innovative products, and a shared passion for serving libraries. Together, we carry decades of combined knowledge and experience — and we look forward to continuing to share it with libraries and librarians around the world for many years to come.
