Milan Malpensa Airport is the second largest airport in Italy. They handle close to 20 million passengers a year and serve more than 110 airlines. With the implementation of Lyngsoe LIVE Logistics™ Milan Malpensa Airport was the first airport in Europe and only the third in the world to have a comprehensive RFID on baggage system deployed.

The solution encompassed RFID integration in all check-in baggage tags, a sophisticated RFID infrastructure spanning check-in and baggage conveyors, and a highly efficient baggage reconciliation system. Notably, while the system utilized both barcode and RFID data, it can operate solely on, exemplifying a paradigm shift towards enhanced automation.
