The hospital asset tracking solution will be rolled out through the clinical engineering department. Each medical device will be labelled with a unique GS1 asset label that contains an embedded passive RFID tag. RFID readers will be strategically installed at key points around the hospitals to automatically detect and record when a tagged medical device is in range. Mobile and hand portable RFID readers will be used to capture medical device details and their locations, which are then shared with staff via the X-Tracking™ web interface.
X-Tracking™ will be integrated with the Trust’s existing in-house asset management software, which will supply accurate location data to engineering staff, making it easier to locate medical devices for PPM and repair.
