Guy's and St. Thomas' to implement Lyngsoe X-Tracking

Learn about the partnership between Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and Lyngsoe Systems. Discover how real-time data streamlines device management and maintenance, freeing up valuable time for patient care.

The new partnership

We’re delighted to announce that Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is working with Lyngsoe Systems to supply the Trust with our GS1 approved Lyngsoe X-Tracking™ solution.

Like many hospitals, Guy’s and St Thomas’ want to make medical devices more available at the point of need. X-Tracking™ will provide them with real-time data on the location and status of the hospitals’ large fleet of medical devices, enabling them to efficiently manage maintenance and access.

More time for patient care

“It is important to us that staff spend as much of their time as possible delivering care for our patients, and as little time as possible searching for medical devices. We need to locate devices in order to put them to use, or to carry out preventative maintenance on them to make sure they are ready for use.”

Implementing the GS1 approved solution

The hospital asset tracking solution will be rolled out through the clinical engineering department. Each medical device will be labelled with a unique GS1 asset label that contains an embedded passive RFID tag. RFID readers will be strategically installed at key points around the hospitals to automatically detect and record when a tagged medical device is in range. Mobile and hand portable RFID readers will be used to capture medical device details and their locations, which are then shared with staff via the X-Tracking web interface.

X-Tracking will be integrated with the Trust’s existing in-house asset management software, which will supply accurate location data to engineering staff, making it easier to locate medical devices for PPM and repair.

“We’re delighted to be working with Guy’s and St Thomas’ to deliver cutting-edge RFID technology to reduce unnecessary waste of clinical engineering staff time and improve medical equipment utilisation.”
